Help with external hard drive..

aight up until today my External hard drive has worked perfectly fine, then all of the sudden today i plug it in, and open it up and when it opens i see all my files...then after i click a folder.. and i get a error message i took a screen shot and cut it down in size but it has the error window in it i just cut out the folder in the background..




i ran error checks and it says its fine and working properly, i did virus scans on my laptop, and on the actual drive it self and it came up with nothing at all, the thing thats fucking with me is that it was just working yesterday and now it isnt today...so can anyone help me..plz...........

i have no fucking idea..its just a hard drive..no OS on it or anything lol but maybe i should restore my comp... ?????

well you can give it a shot whilst the external is on and see how it goes, if it doesnt work you can always undo the system restore if you really want to, i dont really have any other ideas just now, i never had these problems before but you are the second person i know to get them

I would try booting into safe mode and see if explorer still crashes when trying to access the drive.

a good thing to practice too is to use the "Safely Remove Hardware" option each time you are done using the HD .. something that a lot of people never do, or don't even know about.

otherwise, it's similar to just pulling the power cord out the wall when you're done using your computer for the day.

quite sure that didn't 'cause your current issue(s), but it's a good rule of thumb for when you get things back to normal.

F8, just press it when the BIOS first appears and keep tappin it. If you're lucky and you're able to access it, I would try to get all of the data off of it, reformat the drive, and copy the stuff back on. That would probably work

wait a sec...so what do i do..lol i dont boot my laptop up in safe mode? i only hit F8 when i open the drive...???and whats BIOS??? god i feel so fuckin dumb right now...plz help me..do you got aim or something..?

ok..

start your pc up, when you see that black screen with writting come up, press F8 untill you get a different screen from normal, usually blue, that would be the bios screen, from there you can access a whole range of options and feature that might help you out..

Have you tried it in another computer? Im not really good with these things soo my thought probably sucks. Do you have anything on your harddrive like a program thing? Or is it music and videos? if it has a program in there it could be trying to run the program right when you plug it in and it would pop out your explorer.
