  • RAM Issue..

I just bought some new RAM online, and I put them in and when I power up my computer it's just a constant quick beep, and it wont boot up ..

I'm just wondering if the RAM is bad, or if my computer cannot handle it ..

I've tried 1 at a time, and I've tried both, I've tried it in all 3 slots ..

Curious if I need to tweak something first on my motherboard ..

    The RAM is 2 x 512 MB PC 100

    and my motherboard is

any help would be muchly appreciated ..

that happened to me once and it was because the RAM didn't match the motherboard.

        no problem.

i might be wrong though! don't return it just because i said that. maybe it requires drivers or some sort of change.

also, i think some motherboards require the RAM to be in a certain order or arranged a certain way. basically what i'm saying is do a little bit of research before going and returning it or w/e.

yeah i been trying to look, and nothing was helping and i usually don't have issues finding answers .. and the sad thing is i took hardware in college but i forget everything now haha ..

but yeah i'm gonna mess with it for a while before i send it back ..

If you post the exact model of the ram I can probably help you out, but usually when you hear beeps at startup it means a hardware incompatibility...most likely the ram.

Yeah, clear your CMOS (pull out the battery off your mobo) and try it.

If not, then like everyone else said it's hardware compatibility.
