    4) Because of America' love of gas guzzelers, failure to extract oil from Alaska (not delivering that oil along the shortest route--lobbists for jobs in Alaska [pure pork in a time of need for the lower 48] ) that oil will cost more and take longer to get here.

    4) Because of the efforts of the enviromentalist to prevent offshore drilling for oil that could taske the place of foreign oil so we can tell those guys across the water to go to hell, the price of oil goes up.

    That's why gas is high!!!
    1)no.
2)think about it... wouldn't that bring down demand and prices, yes it would. But, the oil companies don't have too. So they won't.
    3)no.
    4) Amreican cars do suck more gas... do you really think there is no oil being "extracted" in Alaska?
4)Always got to add an extra "4)" to blame some "liberals", huh?

    That's why you sound high!

We can keep on ignoring the fact that there's a world shortage of oil slowly coming on. But I don't doubt SOME artificial price increases, although I haven't seen direct proof. Fact is, oil will be unmanagable within the next 20 years, more likely than not.

Has anyone here seen "End of Suburbia"?

gas prices are so high because they can be. Gas companies have the market cornered off, nobody can fuck with them. People can't stop buying gas, so why won't they raise the prices and keep raising them? it was just a matter of time, and the closer we get to oil running out, the higher the prices are gonna go. Of course it doesnt help having an oil man as the president of the USA, who fucks with the saudis the way he does, but thats only part of the problem. you gotta look at it globally, i think Passiton posted something about it a long time ago about oil consumption and production, and the effect china has had on the oil industry since they started becoming a manufacturing superpower. you cant only blame bush, hes a bad mother fucker, but this isnt all because of him.

There is a difference in price between America, Canada, and Europe because of refineries. American refineries are the best in the world but are running out of, or surpassing, capacity, causing shortges. No new major refineries have been built since the late 80's. Until more refineries are built, oil prices will increase to the level you see in Canada. Then Europe.

for the people that dont get it: that man right there is the one thats getting alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the money from oil
and hes getting even more money now that things like the iraqy war and katrina drive up the oil prices (dont ask me how katrina is responsible for raising your oil prices but it is)
Wrong. Crude oil prices trade on a market. Therefore, when you see $65-$70 for a barrel of oil that is NOT what exxon is paying that guy. In fact, wholesale prices of crude oil are unchanged since Katrina hit. The price of oil is increasing because the lack of capacity, and now efficiency, of oil refineries which convert crude oil into gasoline form.

hes making big increases over long periots of time and just keeps making more money and hes holding hands with the man that rules america and made sure the iraq war started so he pretty much helped that oil sheek making $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and since they are holding hands and are very happy to be at bush's house im guessing bush himself is getting a fair share of the $$$$$
These shieks were loaded before Bush took office. Holding hands was a custom. Bush isn't a homo and it doesnt take "hand holding" to be in collusion. Obviously, it was unrelated to "oil".

now please debate :D (in a normal way)
If Bush is so "tied" to big oil, then why are prices for natural gas, diesel, and other forms of energy increasing just as much? And in most countries?
