Who DIDN'T see Bush giving positions to his friends regardless of their complete lack of qualifications?

Brownie was more qualified to head FEMA than Bush is to run the country....

Wasn't me, I have never given a negative rep to anyone, and believe me if I did I would leave my name.

I only posted the picture because I thought it was quite funny. Not because I blame the poor response on Bush - although he is culpable to a degree, but it seems to me that the layers of bureacracy in the US political system is largely to blame.

Until Katrina I don't think most of us had a clue who Brown was and what his qualifications were. FEMA's reponse has been shocking and have shown his weaknesses. Of course people now have a problem him, he failed at his job and the consequences were tremendous. Seems only fair that he should take some responsibility bearing in mind he was the "chief" so to speak. It also does seem clear now that he was a political appointee, the head of FEMA shouldn't be a political appointee but rather someone with experience and qualifications in emergency management, so in that respect Bush is also culpable.

Oh and by the way, since Bush is the civilian and military leader of the country he should be held accountable for major failures - yet you give him a walk on everything. For someone who comes across as rational most of the time, your loyalty to Bush regardless of the issue seems odd.

how long has he been in his position? almost 2 years? you can't have a problem with someone until they try and fail at their job. and that isn't going to be noticed or made a big deal of until the scale is large enough. we weren't complaining about bush's past until *bingo* he came into power with his 'holier than thou' mind set. is that supposed to mean it wasn't a problem? last years response to hurricanes was shitty too, as i said. my sister's county that actually got hit directly by 2 or 3 hurricanes got less financial support than miami which is hours south and suffered little or not actual damage from the hurricanes.

Like Triump pointed out in another thread, four large-scale hurricanes slammed into Florida last year. One of the worst hurricane seasons Florida had seen in over a decade. Michael Brown's credentials werent spoken about then, were they?

I think FEMA wasnt prepared for a catastrophe the scale we saw. It prepared for, and had experience in, hurricanes. I think a disaster area the size of the United Kingdom and a major metropolitan city completely under water was too much to handle for an organization that sees little action.

we weren't complaining about bush's past until *bingo* he came into power with his 'holier than thou' mind set.
Really? So prior to the first election, no one brought to the nations attention his prior cocaine use? His drunk driving? His susposed "bailing out" on the military?

last years response to hurricanes was shitty too, as i said. my sister's county that actually got hit directly by 2 or 3 hurricanes got less financial support than miami which is hours south and suffered little or not actual damage from the hurricanes.
