I duplicate CD's as a side business... actually.... you can visit my website here www.mpduplicators.com (its shitty but whatever)

anyway.. I've been making covers for bands and groups that use my services assuming they don't already have a cover... I just added this one.. what do you think?

    before and after (vice versa)
    ....

    ....
yes... I still used a filter... but I did use your other advice.

    No filter here though.
    ....

you can view other covers I've done at the above website... I also made a few soundtrack covers for peoples weddings... The names have been changed to protect the innocent.

wow your website is great... how do you get effects similar to that of a filter without using a filter? How much do you charge for CD Cover Designs? Just the front?

I loved the Robert Frost - Fire & Ice poster and also the graphic with the paper clip in the top left corner.

also the one with the screws in it.... thats hott too.

Filters are the worst possiable thing to use on Client work, when used wrong. Beveled borders are also a big no no. But you always do have some creative things, like the sihlloutes in the door way..Idk.. Just keep practicing.

thanks for the input guys... to be honest I've only used photoshop for the past several months.. I need to take a class in it or something... but luckily for me I have low-brow clients....

If you expermient with shit, diffrent tools, diffrent blending options..use of stock images.. youll be suprised on your outcome. I know a couple of dudes here, take or have taken classes in the field. and ive heard that they new more then there professors and what not. I wouldnt suggest taking courses.. If you practice hard enough youll get used to the diffrent tools.. Just the key element of design, cannot really be tought. But best of luck doodey.

The flight of stairs you used, would be considered stock.. Stock images are images you use to get the final outcome of one picture.

brushing is the way to do it bro. I used to be like you using filters all the time and you will one day notice how bad they are. thanks for the feed back man and good luck with any work you do seems like you got a good idea.

this on is by far the best. the top text is cool and without a filter is way better. The bottom text really lets it down bro need swork looks like youve been lazy with it. Colours are nice but the way you take one image and use it as the bg lacks a bit of creativity. keep workin man IMO looks like you got the right idea for a designer.

Double Edge: silhouettes nice, should be darker .. the border i don't like .. the effect is ok, and "Double Edge", looks tacky there 2x ..

Central Digit: coool idea, i would say to make the front from scratch and put in a verse of their song .. also i don't like Central Digit, it look cheap ..

Madness The Madd: i like this, i'd say to make the noose the same color as the bg so it blends .. you might wanna put the drop shadow on Madness as well ..
