  • Jupiter's Surface

I've never actually seen pictures of what the surface looks like, matter of fact I don't really understand it. Is it just a giant ball of clouds? Or just one giant oceans with constant, non-stopping hurricanes? I have some artwork, except I'm not sure if its defiant on what Jupiter really looks like.

Composition: Small, rocky core surrounded by gas

ok so let's say some kind of organism was able to survive under the gassy ass atmosphere of jupiter's clouds. would it be living on the "solid" core in comparison to how we live on earth's crust?

no. its a small core, surrounded by metallic hydrogen, then liquid hydrogen, then gas. nothing could live down there because of the pressure and temperature. dam this is gonna make me want to research more on jupiter.

okay you said liquid hydrogen, so technically jupiter has a giant ocean on it right? and that's where all the storms correspond?

Yea, we just did the gas giants, of which Jupiter is one, today in my Astronomy class.
From what I remember (not much lol) it is largely gaseous etc. everything that fastspinz said. And it is a giant ocean of liquid hydrogen. Other organisms might be able to survive on hydrogen and the temperatures, but the gravitational force is far too strong, though one of its moons (i forget which) has frozen, so do several other satellites in the solar system, and many once had 'rivers' of ice/mud/other liquid stuff and could have supported life at some point in ther history.

                    Those are beautiful pics.

If Jupiter were dropped in an ocean, it would float, that's how light it is.
