  • PG-13 Rated Horror Movies?

I think The Ring started the trend and it just went downhill from there. Everytime I turn on a TV I see a sick trailer for what appears to be a sick horror movie (boogeyman, red eye, exorcism of some hoe, and countless others) but then I find out it's merely a kiddy film and it pisses me off...

Yeah. PG-13 "Horror" movies shouldn't exist. If it's not R, it's not worth it.

Of course I can see how they can make more money if it's rated PG-13.

Well, I'd rather have them being rated PG-13 so I know they are weak, instead of being rated R and then finding out myself....like the Scream movies, or Freddy vs. Jason...

Well, if it's written well enough and the movie has substantial creative horror, then it can be frightening and PG13; however, it doesn't seem like enough horror writers have that level of creativity. If you consider "Stephen King's IT", that wasn't R, nor was Poltergeist, yet both of them are considered creepy horror classics by many..
            whoa.

i liked The Ring movies and i think Exercism of Emily Rose & Red Eye look like good movies. but i do agree that the majority of them suck ballsack. But some R rated horrors suck to.

Why would that be rated R? When all she does is go around on a plane and look for her daughter. That movie is more like a thriller movie, than a horror.

^ They don't exist. By today's standards, no movies are as scary as they once were. "Halloween" was scary when it first came out but the formula has been used so many times that it's pretty laughable now (eventhough I still love the "Halloween" series, save number 3). A movie that you MIGHT find scary would be "The Serpent and The Rainbow." Now, I emphasize "MIGHT" because you may not find it scary at all. I thought it was pretty good though.
