if they do produce a sequel and prequel, THE DEPARTED trilogy would definatley give The Godfather trilogy a good run for it's money.

Goodfellas/The Departed > The Godfather 1&2 (entertainment wise)

man i can't believe i just wrote that.

                  1.) no
2.) as much as i love Scorsese, Goodfellas, and Departed, it wouldn't hold a lick to Godfather 1 and 2...
3.) a trilogy is SO fucking stupid, i hope Scorsese doesn't take part of a sequel or prequel, he's better than that. this trilogy is nothing more than Hollywood trying to cash in on another franchise... they might make Departed the new Saw... so fucking gross...
4.) i can't believe you wrote that either...

I meant *Entertainment* wise, so your telling me that you can sit down and watch THE GODFATHER 1&2 and not get bored, fuck ouuta here.

my only diss towards Part 2 is the lighting is quite bad at times, and you can't see whats going on. and the scenes with the senator and tom hagen are boring at times.

even tho Godfather 1&2 are number 1&2 on my all time favs, i'd pick Goodfellas & The Departed over them both for ENTERTAINMENT.

Scorsese knows how to make a entertaining film, (quick editing, quality soundtrack, grimey stories, and great acting)

Coppola makes larger than life Epics.

The Godfather 1&2 > Goodfellas / The Departed (All time great)

i liked the movie...great acting, straight up Scorsese gangsta shit...i just think the film ends too abruptly...also, nothing seems to happen with the info that Will gives the chick...also, the fact that she was pregnant could've meant that Will might've been the father imo...i don't know if it was written that way, but it certainly appeared that way...

i still have to see Internal Affairs...

I preferred Infernal Affairs, but The Departed is still a brilliant movie, Scorsese is back on form

Entertainment wise? The fuck? Then I can make arguements for Anchorman and Dodgeball being better than Godfather 1 and 2. But I'm not that fucking stupid.

The lighting is meant to be that way, Coppola knew what the hell he was doing. If you go back and study The Godfather 1 and 2, Coppola wanted to show contrast between what goes on in the office and other grimey spots as opposed to the colorful world outside, the happy side, the family side. And if you think they're boring, stop watching. The scenes with the Senator and Tom Hagen are meant to be incorporated in to the story, if you can't get that, then stop watching films.

I agree as far as Scorsese being able to make entertaining films, but beyond that, he makes great films with great stories. And I don't care if you're going for entertainment or for aesthetics, saying Goodfellas and Departed is better than Godfather 1 and 2 is just plain stupid.

i watched Citizen Kane the other day for the first time ever, because i had it with people saying its the best film ever made........... and do you know what they might be fucking right.

what a classic film, the first thing i noticed was the directing on that film, for that time era Orson was using tricks that were way ahead of his time.

                                my all time favs:
                                The Godfather 1&2
                                Shawshank
                                Goodfellas
                                Departed
                                Pulp Fiction
                                Citizen Kane
