  • The Soloist (Directed By Joe Wright, Starring Downey Jr. & Foxx)

    “The Soloist”

Based on the Book by Steve Lopez
    Screenplay by Susannah Grant
    Directed by Joe Wright

    Starring
    Jamie Foxx
    Robert Downey Jr.

In “The Soloist,” an emotionally soaring drama about the redemptive power of music, journalist Steve Lopez discovers Nathaniel Anthony Ayers, a former classical music prodigy, playing his violin on the streets of L.A. As Lopez endeavors to help the homeless man find his way back, a unique friendship is formed, one that transforms both their lives. “The Soloist” is directed by Joe Wright (Golden Globe winner for Best Drama and Oscar® nominee for Best Picture “Atonement”). Coming November 21, 2008.

I am going to see a private screening on Wednesday. I didn't know anything about this film until today. I love Joe Wright's work and that's the reason why I want to see this.

I love the cast, but to me, Joe Wright is over-rated... mainly cause I wasn't too big a fan of Atonement... like a lot of people I know.

But yea.. the story sounds interesting... we'll see.. let us know what you think after you see it.

I thought Atonement was beautiful. It's one of the very few films where I could tell a director poured his heart over the film. That's exactly what I was thinking throughout the entire film.

I've heard a lot of people say good things about the book this film is based on so it should be good.

^Agreed...I'm not a fan of Joe Wright at all (disliked Atonement big time), but RDJ and the interesting story might compel me to see it, pending reviews.

More Oscar bait. At least it's not a period piece.

Saw the preview for this today. It looked semi-corny (mostly thanks to the editing), but I couldn't help but think it'll be a good movie, esp. with RDJ and Foxx in it.
