    Becks: 'Summer move is possible'

David Beckham insists he does not want to leave Real Madrid but admits that a move cannot be ruled out.
There are signs that Real president Florentino Perez is growing disillusioned with the so-called 'galactico' transfer policy he pioneered and the uncertainty that could lead to is not lost on Beckham.

'I've already said that I'm happy in Madrid. I want to stay, but you never know in football,' said the England skipper at a club press conference today.

'People say players are getting sold at the end of the season but we can handle it. The motivation for us now is to prove people wrong.'

There is also speculation about the future of England striker Michael Owen, who has failed to nail down a regular starting spot despite despite scoring nine goals in less than 1,200 minutes of football.

'Everybody knows that Michael is a great player and a great goalscorer, but that's for the manager to decide and not for me,' said Beckham.

'People see what a great goalscorer he is but it's difficult for the coach because he has also got two great players in Raul and Ronaldo to choose from - I wouldn't like to be the coach.'

Beckham refuses to concede defeat in the race for the Primera Liga title even though Real trail leaders Barcelona by 11 points.

'I've had the advantage of being in a team that was 11 points behind when Manchester United came back against Newcastle. But we have to win games and we have to be positive in everything,' said Beckham.

'It's not over because this team is one of the best in the world.

'We haven't won anything for two years but we are not finished and we have to believe in ourselves and make people believe in us,' he added.

Madrid have been criticised from all corners following a dreadful fortnight which saw them knocked out of the Champions League and lose to local neighbours Getafe to seemingly drop out of the title race.

If Beckham were to leave Madrid one possible destination could be Chelsea, who Beckham admitted could be on the way to overtaking Madrid in terms of importance.

'I don't think we have lost the 'galactico' tag. We've still got the best players in the world,' said Beckham.

'I said Chelsea could be classed as Real Madrid if they carried on playing and winning games, playing as they did against Barcelona, in the Champions League and the Premiership.

'But I think anybody who plays against Real Madrid will still look forward to playing against us.'
