  • Wrong Choice By Favre? Walker Talking Trades With Other Teams

Walker gets OK to talk to other teams about trades...

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Javon Walker has received permission from the team to explore trade opportunities and a deal is expected before this weekend's NFL draft, league sources with direct knowledge of the situation said.

    Walker

Walker is visiting the New Orleans Saints on Thursday and is scheduled to visit the Denver Broncos on Friday.

The Packers are also engaging in trade talks with the Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles but conversations aren't as far along as they are with the Saints and Broncos. Walker does not have any visits scheduled beyond the Saints and Broncos.

Walker, who underwent surgery in October on his right knee's injured anterior cruciate ligament, expects to be ready to go by training camp -- just not with the Packers, he hopes.

Unlike last year when he drew the ire of Brett Favre among others, he promises not to be a disruption, because he doesn't plan to show up at all for training camp.

"If I had to go back there, I'd retire," he told ESPN.com last month. "I don't have to play."

General manager Ted Thompson has said he expects Walker to honor his contract.

"I've spoken with Javon over the course of the spring," Thompson said. "I think I'll let the original statement that we put out stand there. I know that things get said from time to time and I think the less said on something like that, the better."

Thompson did say that he and the team would welcome Walker back.

"I would," Thompson said. "I'm sure the team would. He's very well liked here. I assume you guys would agree with me."

I really, really, hope that the Eagles make an attempt to talk to him.

I just found something, Eagles did attempt to trade for Walker.

Len Pasquarelli, ESPN.com senior NFL writer: Philly offered disgruntled DT Hollis Thomas and a low-round pick for Walker, and that didn't get it done.

Maybe we will try a little harder? Who knows...

I hope Miami tries hard to get him. On the other hand, I read the Packers want a 1st rounder for him. If they really want to trade him, they will have to take much, much less. I also know that the Broncos have made an offer along with the Eagles.

Chambers+McMichael+Chambers+Walker+Daunte+Ronnie (will be good for about 1,000 yards atleast.. Sophmore jump, not slump)= Great offense.

I will use the draft as a guage to see if the Fins are serious about Walker. If they draft Holmes or Jackson, then they won't go after him, but if they draft Lawson, Sims, Wimbley or one of the many DB's, then I think they will try harder. And Ronnie will have well over 1,000 yards this season. Ronnie Brown for MVP

On the other hand, if the Eagles get him, then McNabb will have a real deep theat. That would be awesome! I'd love to see the Eagles get an every down RB, but that is just me.

I would too.. But, Im a little shaky on the whole White situation.. I would not want to draft an RB with the 14th pick (in this draft).. Maybe wait until the second round and pick something up.. Look for Jackson (if we dont want to get Jevon) or a OLB.

We have always been a WR from being a superbowl contender.. Hence right when TO came we made it.

I just think the Eagles would benefit from a more balanced attack, something that Westbrook can't give them. He is awesome and a great talent, but that line is built for a beast at RB. White isn't worth picking at where the Eagles' pick is, but maybe in the later rounds. Maybe draft somebody that you can put out there with Westbrook. I dunno, that is just me. I think the Eagles will draft Sims if he is there. He is awesome

It just keeps getting worse for the Packers

                ^HAHAHA! Wow, that blows!

Anyway, I think the Eagles have faith in Moats. I think 1st round, defender, 2nd round, a WR, 3rd a RB... Or maybe vise versa.

I don't blame him, especially after all the Brett Favre me, me, me BS.

i could see favre coming back if the packers even had a chance at making the playoffs this season, but lets face it.. they don't. he's already been to the superbowl twice, won once. made several appearances in hawaii. what else does he have to prove? is it about the money? i never really saw him as that type of player, but thats all i can come up with that makes sense for him coming back. lets just hope he doesn't come back this year just to get placed on ir after getting nailed on the field.

I think Favre shoulda just retired. I agree he really has nothing else left to prove but you gotta remember, he loves to play football. But yea, after last season he shoulda just called it quits.
I wish the Falcons would take a run at Javon. We fucking need WRs. Jenkins and Roddy White are not gonna get it done for Vick. We need a playmaker at WR. But right now I dont think we have much to offer, since we still need to work on depth for our DBs.
