  • Congrats to the NEW NWA Champion: Brent Albright

Brent Albright signed a development contract with the WWE during 2004 and is sent to OVW, there he wins every title and becomes the first triple crown champion. He then went on to have a high quality with a few OVW wrestlers, most notably against the current World Champion, CM Punk.

In April 2006, he debuts on Smackdown under the name of "GUNNER SCOTT", which is an awesome name if you want to bury somebody before the debut. But he goes on to beat former world champion Booker T, twice...show up on Smackdown a few more times and then he is sent back to OVW. Until October 2006 he is released, before Great Khali, Snitsky and Mark Henry...who are all still there to this day.

Then minutes later, he gets a call from ROH where he is given the chance to showcase his power and size. He starts off with his "Gun for Hire" gimmick in which he takes payoffs to take out people making him a heel. This goes on until Adam Pearce recruits Albright for his Hangmen 3 stable with BJ Whitmer and Shane Hagadorn, once again keeping his heel status. Eventually his loyalty to the group comes into question when Adam Pearce is convinced with a mysterious briefcase by Super Agent Larry Sweeney to absorb the Hangmen 3 into Sweeney's Sweet and Sour Inc., which doesnt hold well with Albright. Although he holds in there when Sweeney constantly flashes the cash infront of his face but its not long after that Albright starts becoming the scapegoat of the group when things dont go as planned.

Everything comes full circle during ROH's debut at the Hammerstein when Albright mistakenly costs his team the match, he is berated in the middle of the ring by Sweeney and ordered to beat up poor fat Bobby Dempsey. He then turns on them by destroying the whole group and nearly killing Shane Hagadorn with an Awesome Bomb to the outside of the ring that gets a thunderous reaction from the crowd.

Albright is finally babyface within a matter of minutes as the New York City crowds chant his name through the historic venue. He is then attacked a few weeks later by Adam Pearce as he reveals the contents of the briefcase being the NWA World Title. So it all comes down to this past Satruday when ROH made their anticipated return to the Hammerstein when Albright would challenge Pearce for the NWA Title AND WIN!

So congrats to Mr. Albright, your talent has been noticed and rewarded...your name will now be within the same list as wrestlers such as Lou Thesz, Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, Sting, Great Muta and so on.

Well at least they have a champ who can wrestle. Hasn't been that way for a while.

WORD. Monster champ! I want to see all his challengers get their arm ripped off and then dropped on their head with the half nelson

well its a great way for the heel to get away with a win. one of the oldest matches ive seen that i still remember today was the huge babyface versus the big bad evil heel champion...heel cheats all match and then finally the face starts getting back some momentum and during the house of fire throws the heel champ over the top rope, he comes back in and gets beaten by the babyface, NEW CHAMPION!! babyface takes the belt and celebrates and then the heel talks to the ref and the announcement is interrupted and the champ wins by DQ. ppl in that place was pissed!

ROH did this with their NWA title vs. ROH title match, havent seen it yet but im hoping they did something similar. bit of old school here and there is a good thing.

Baltzer, what you're talking about is Hulk Hogan vs. Nick Bockwinkle for the AWA Title. It was amazing how over Hogan was in the company.

                          just awesome stuff.

Its great stuff that the NWA and Ring of Honor are working together, both can benefit from it. NWA with a little it more exposure and ROH having yet another title defended in their ring. Who knows with Flair free now, maybe well see him be a special guest for one the NWA defenses in the future.

Adam Pearce is awesome on the mic, he went from old school confident champion with his quick rambling to pissed off psychopathic heel afterwards.

I like all the segments with the owners, directors, regional promoter...just makes it look less like a joke, especially when none are evil dictator "GMs".

Backstage interviewer dude is also fantastic, in voice and delivery is perfect...and no stupid questions. "How do you feel getting beating down by whats his name?"...they might as well just ask, "How did it feel to get fucked in the ass out there?"
