I am a big late with this since the PPV aired a few weeks ago, but I only got to watching this last week. This was the show where they would crown their first champion. Previous Dragon Gate USA shows have been worth the time, at least 2 matches that usually deliver, 2 of the Dragon Gate USA shows won best shows in 2009, 2 in the top 3, the other show being UFC 100.
This shows started very slow, very disappointing actually with a few lackluster matches but the last 3 matches deliver on all levels, and they are:
Davey Richards vs. YAMATO
No surprise that Davey Richards is part of one of these matches, voted the MVP of 2009 by the ROH fans, he tore it up every where in 2009. Facing him is the breakout star of the last 3 years in Dragon Gate, YAMATO...who has really transformed himself into a lethal character along with evolving in his wrestling skills. This is really a snowball of a match, it builds to the ultimate climax with both wrestlers hitting each other with bombs in the last 5 minutes. Commentators mention how you can only see such action and athleticism in the US in Dragon Gate USA, that's not far from the truth, neither TNA or the WWE can match this type of wrestling.

Shingo & Dragon Kid vs. Naruki Doi & Masato Yoshino
What can follow the previous match, by changing it up to tag team wrestling. The same can be said with this match, where else outside from the independent circuit can you see this type of tag team wrestling? Answer is no where. While tag team wrestling may be dying in other places, you would not know that it has been growing and innovating in the last decade with this new millennium fast paced high impact action. All four of these Dragon Gate originals have faced each other in different combos, probably 1000 times, but they still find a way to deliver. Shingo's power, Dragon Kid's high flying, Yoshino's speed and Naruki Doi's technical skills make this an overall amazing tag match.
Open The Freedom Gate Championship Match: Elimination Four-Way
Yamato vs. BxB Hulk vs. Gran Akuma vs. CIMA
I was scared this would not meet expectations of a match to crown the first ever champion, mostly due to Gran Akuma who doesn't deserve to be there. After his elimination, the action picked up and the story started to really unfold with CIMA being eliminated second, leaving the face versus the heel. For those of you who have not seen BxB Hulk he's quite the unique talent, kind of a mixture and hybrid of a Japanese HBK and a Rey Mysterio Jr. In the end, this match delivered with BxB Hulk becoming the first ever champion in another great match.
