  • Nintendo Opposes $60 Games

Gamers have shown increased concern over the amount of money publishers have been charging for Xbox 360 releases. Though first-party Microsoft games like Perfect Dark Zero have maintained the industry-standard $50 from last generation, paying $50 for a jazzed up port of Activision's Gun isn't so attractive.

Nintendo seems to agree. CNN/Money columnist Chris Morris had a chance to chat with Nintendo president Satoru Iwata about the company's future, and he expressed his similar dissatisfaction. "I really don't think that there's going to be a lot of acceptance by current customers of the $60 price tag," he says.

With that in mind, Iwata would be awfully hypocritical if Revolution were to follow down the same path, and considering Nintendo's continued emphasis on lowered development hurdles, consumers should logically see a lower price. Iwata doesn't foresee any first-party Revolution games costing more than $50.

Then again, Iwata's specifically mentions first-party games, leaving open the possibility third-party publishers could gamble with consumers for a little extra cash. With Revolution's already abstract approach to videogames, though, hopefully publishers realize gouging gamers' wallets isn't the best way to draw their support.
