Word. Wasn't Mario Strikers supposed to be the first online title?!

Okay, so here's the scoop then.

You take a single celled creature and take him up the evolutionary ladder. All the way up to a society level. Then you work on inventing technology. Eventually, you can achieve space travel and go ANYWHERE in the universe. For there, the game deals with forming relationships with other races/species or just going ahead and being a total warmonger if you like. Or even giving a caveman society some higher technology and then coming back to be worshipped as a God. It's all very fucking insane.

I didn't really learn much except that it has a cool creation thing, and Robin Williams is good at it. o__O

EA targets Nintendo consoles for growth
    2 February 2007 23:33 by Dela

Electronics Arts (EA) is the biggest publisher for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 (PS3), PlayStation 2 (PS2), Xbox, PC and PSP in North America and Europe. Now the company has announced it will target Nintendo to boost up its growth. EA recently revealed revenues totaling $1.281 billion. The company will now focus a lot of effort on Nintendo's Wii console and the DS handheld device.

"We have shifted and acquired resources and are attacking these successful platforms," commented CFO Warren Jenson. "In short, we're on it." The publisher revealed it has has 15 SKUs in development for Nintendo formats. However, EA CEO Larry Probst admitted that stealing the #1 spot for Nintendo formats from Nintendo itself might not be possible, but that the company will settle for number 2.

"On the Nintendo platforms, we think that we can be very a strong number two," he said. "Clearly, Nintendo will always be number one on the Wii and DS, but we think we have a realistic goal of being number two, with a market share goal of 15-20 per cent."

I do not comprehend why we do not have hockey yet for the DS. To me that is simply outlandish. And Hockey on Wii better be comming as per Reggie's statements at the Montreal VGC.

IMO Ubisoft squandered their headstart with the Wii and DS. Sure they dropped lots of titles. But the quality was not the effort EA was putting into the few games that they made for each system at their launch. And now EA is ramping things up, which can only spell gloom and doom for Ubisoft and their lofty goals of taking EA's place in the market lead.

Fifteen Nintendo games coming from EA, Including Spore DS!

Article Posted: 02.02.07 by Daniel Vuckovic

Its EA’s turn to report its quarter profits this week, and while net income slid 38 percent to $160US million, we won’t bore you with the numbers the real news comes from the “Forecast” part of their report. Including that EA is working on over 15 Nintendo bound games including one huge franchise for the Nintendo DS

"We have significantly increased our development of Wii games", Chief Financial Officer Warren Jenson told Bloomberg, with 4 games being released this quarter and a further 15 more in development for both the Nintendo DS and Wii. Some of the titles in development for Nintendo's systems include My Sims for both the DS and Wii, Sim City, as well as a Nintendo DS version of Will Wright's highly anticipated title Spore.

EA has two development studios dedicated solely to developing Wii games and EA’s quality on Wii so far has been pretty good, let’s hope it can improve even more!
So I guess we know where all those resources from cancelled PS3 projects is going. But come on. How perfect is it to have SPORE on the DS? That is awsome news.
