^^ another Apathy industry forecast? I will hold you to it. If the PS3 falls in price by $100 by this time next year. I will buy the shitty system reguardless if it burns my house down or not. That is how positive I am that the PS3 will not be dropping in price until at LEAST a year after the Xbox 360 drops by the same amount. That is logic speaking. And the 360 is not dropping in price anytime soon so i would'nt hold my breath. One convienient location...... somewhere in Africa.

Once Blu-ray wins and with 65nm production already at hand the ps3 sales and cost will come down.
65nm CELL processor production started
Added on 30/01/2007.
Sony Computer Entertainment has started production on the previously announced 65nm CELL processor. All PlayStation 3 units so far have a 90nm processor inside, but this will change soon. As it seems Sony has started the massproduction of the 65nm processor, and this will have a few advantages.
First of all, this will mean a price cut for Sony on every PlayStation 3 sold. This is because the 65nm CELL processor is cheaper than the 90nm processor.
And second, this means a heatreduction for the PlayStation 3.
Also this 'new' processor is not only for the PlayStation 3, it's will also be used for more Sony or Toshiba products.
Whether this new 65nm processor will be in all PlayStation 3 units at the European launch is unknown. We expect Sony to announce this in the coming months. Don't expect a price drop though, because Sony will still lose a lot of money with this 'new' processor.
Keep checking PSU.com for the latest PlayStation 3 hardware news.
The thing is what else would a 30 year old virgin do but to follow my progress? So basically you're an 30 year old frail idiot if you mean shit system because every ps3 i've been on has been of robust quality up to now, same with the ps2(barring somebody who dropped his ps2 a numerous times.) Fanboys love speakin bullshit because they have no lives, period. The system has some of the best quality exclusives coming up so stay wiily silent geek.Ready to pop you like the cork and wine

If you're holding out in hopes of saving some money before finally stepping up to an Xbox 360, you're going to find the wait to be quite long. You might think that dropping the price would help sell consoles, but Microsoft doesn't have any incentive to change the price from their current 300/400 USD set. Let's go down the list of reasons.
The only other high-definition console costs $200 more. The PS3 price makes the Xbox 360 look cheaper than it really is when consumers are making the decision between the two. Even in the unlikely event that Sony drops the price of the PS3, the Xbox 360 will still be the cheaper alternative.
The Xbox is finally dead. Microsoft likes to point out that many Xbox 360 owners didn't own an original Xbox. Well, there are a lot of people who are still playing that Xbox that haven't yet moved on to a new console yet. Without any games, they're going to have to make a purchase if they want to keep playing. And who wouldn't want another Microsoft console when…
Halo 3 is coming this year. Master Chief is Microsoft's ace in the hole and this first Halo game on Xbox 360 is sure to push hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of consoles off of store shelves and into entertainment centers. Why would Microsoft drop the price of their console and take a 50 or 100 dollar hit when they're going to have little problem selling systems?
So all of you college students without much disposable income should start saving your money if you want a 360 this year. Otherwise, you're looking at over a year until the price drops. It's hard man, my life is scarred man
I'm losin my mind so now it's time
