When I sign up for iTunes it asks for my credit card number. Is the act of signing up for the service free, and then they just charge my credit card when I buy songs? Or are they going to charge me for signing up? Rep for anyone who can help me.

Do you have an ipod or do you just want to use Itunes? If you're registering it through your ipod you shouldnt have to use your credit card. I dont see why you would want itunes anyway it sucks and freezes a lot. These are the days of anyone being blonde, the days of mind convincing, a time of gold and uncertainty, noise and expensive genetic victory.

Well I dont know for sure but I cant see how it would cost money. On itunes.com it says free to download. So I'm sure they're doing that just for when you purchase songs through itunes. These are the days of anyone being blonde, the days of mind convincing, a time of gold and uncertainty, noise and expensive genetic victory.

It just adds your details to your account so that you can purchase tracks quicker. Not for the service
I haven't used it for a while and don't have it currently installed, but I thought I'd signed up with PayPal??"Get Busy Livin' or Get Busy Dyin'.. Thats God Damn Right"

You don't have to signup via paypal. But if you do, you get 5 free songs.
They just need your credit card info for purchasing music...no sign up fee. They won't charge it if you're just redeeming free music. The alternative would've been that they ask you for it everytime you purchase a song, which would be pretty annoying.
By the way, if you want to strip away the DRM, download JHymn. http://www.hymn-project.org/download.php. That way you can play it in winamp, burn it to as many cds as you want, or play it on any portable music player that plays m4a.Last edited by trex; 03-27-2005, 12:10 PM.

Yea, the media player in itself is free, and if you have a Mac, it should already be in there. Also, iTunes is the shit. But as far as the Music Store aspect of it, that's when they want you to register with a credit card. I was like, "Fuck that!"
So, you don't have to register, but if you plan on buying songs from there than you should.=W=
