I love hip hop, but I know I can't rap. But there's a contest on YouTube where you can win $25,000 if you create the best rap for TurboTax. I don't work for them or anything but I thought it'd let people on this board know about the contest.

Thats why i quit this shit for a while, it's embarressing to accoicaitted with most hip-hop these days, they just want to exploit you and your image. yeah I agree. I'd recommend creating a video about how you file your taxes now and say you'll give TurboTax a try. If the video is sincere, you might just win.

Yeah McDonalds got a lot of shit last year for the same sort of thing. But I think this is different. They're not asking big name rappers to subliminally drop McDonalds in their rhymes. They're taking the contest to a crowd that loves to make videos and saying that the rhyme's gotta be about taxes.

How is this any different from asking rappers to make a commercial? They could've easily gone to Jay-Z or some other famous rapper who would've taken the 25 grand. But here, they're giving the community at large a chance to enter.

I'm torn on the issue, like you - but I think this is a legit contest since they're aren't trying to hide the fact that they want you to rap about taxes.

And what if we discover an amazing rapper from this contest? Don't laugh, a couple of YouTube users (esmeedenters and terranaomi) have gotten record contracts from recognition on YouTube.
