is it me or is it impossible to understand carribean spanish

my mexican, colombian, & guatamalen freinds i understand what there saying,but if im talking to a dominican, puertorican, or cuban i wont understand a single word...hell i have a hard time understanding reggaeton..my best friend he's puertorican and i refuse to speak spanish with him cuz i wont understand shit he says

It's just a matter of getting used to the accents.
Also learn the slang otherwise it's hard to understand anything.
I know people who are spanish who don't understand Mexican slang. When watching "Y tu mama tambien" they needed subtitles at times.
Accents from Mexico or Argentina aren't too bad. Southern Spain and the Canaries are fucking hard to understand.
Remember some people just don't talk clearly.
