Redman 'Rushes' NYC w/ New Video Shoot

Last weekend, Def Jam mainstay Redman shot the video for his newest single "Rush The Security." The energetic New Jersey MC made use of a midtown Manhattan heliport and a Brooklyn club to bring his over-the-top antics to life yet again.

Working at a blistering pace, Red and director J. Jesses Smith successfully packed days worth of shooting into a matter of hours. "That's a 2 day shoot we did in one [day]," Smith explained to SOHH.com. Smith, who was handpicked to capture Redman's off-the-cuff style, also directed the 2001 action flick, Crime Partners as well as DMX's "We Right Here," Wutang's "Pinky Ring" and Jadakiss' "We Gon Make It" among others.

Far from being your typical club anthem, "Rush The Security" boasts a high level of lyricism combined with a grittiness only the Funk Doctor could provide. While missing his most popular cohorts Method Man and Def Squad, Redman's new "Gotti Click" provides plenty of behind-the-bar excitement in Redman's aid.

Adorned in blue fatigues, and a white tee, Redman spent most of his time between shots speaking intently with the director, cast, crew and on-set friends. During the more trying times in the extreme heat, Red opted to ease tensions by joking and singing songs. The songs may have been a product of the smoke-filled trailers and helicopters that served as the general theme of downtime.

In speaking of the video's cost and effort applied, director Smith explained to SOHH.com "Most prices that we put on [videos], like $300,000... That's not what it cost us [today]. Talent is what it cost us." This was made apparent by the professionalism maintained on the set.

Redman's newest LP "Red Gone Wild" was due out on Def Jam records July 19th, 2005 but has been pushed back. The filming of "Rush The Security" should indicate that the highly-anticipated album is on the horizon.

          HAHAHAHAHA

Don't stick on MTV expecting anything decent. There's so much great hip-hop you're missing out on.

Anyway, i'm more excited about The Wu's projects. Cuban Linx 2, new Killah Priest, Masta Killah, Ghostface, Wu Tang Clan..
