Bush Denies Racial Bias in Katrina Response

I voted for Kerry, by the way. I don't think Bush is a good president at all, but to say he is racist is fuckin stupid, as is to say he is too blame for the aftermath of Katrina.

he's not entirely to blame (nobody claims that), but if he had reacted the way he should've, the effects of the disaster would've been much much less

The fact of the matter is that the state and local governments are too blame, if anybody is. Everybody knew a major, major storm was coming. Most newscasters were saying that everyone that stayed behind had a good chance of dying. Yet, people stayed behind anyway.

Those that stayed behind by choice were stupid, plain and simple. For those that couldn't evacuate: there should have been a plan. Buses should have taken out the elderly and poor that didn't have transportation. You can't blame the federal government, and especially not the President, that this didn't happen. New Orleans was the city that seeminly had no plan (except to send everybody to the Superdome) even though everybody knew this storm would eventually come. Any category 4 or 5 storm would have breached the levees....and category 4 storms are not that uncommon.

The response was slow because there really was not much we could do. There was 6 feet of water on the streets and men shooting at helicoptors for heavens sake. What could we have done? Sent troops to swim through the water?

I love when idiots say we when they are talking about the government. "We" could stop ignoring the facts about how FEMA stopped help from getting in!

considering they knew the hurricane was coming long in advance, he could've had rescue workers prepared days before, and sent them right after the storm passed, rather than waiting 4 days to do anything.
