Looks like someone started with #1 and just started writing down any rapper that came to their head until they had a list of 50. That list is terrible

good rappers, wrong places. having rakim and krs 1 out of the top 10 is unexcusable, as is having rappers like puff daddy and missy elliot so high.

the list is probably the top 50 influencial artists... i agree with a few of them...

if its rapping alone then u got a case... but its a list of "artists" so puff would get credit for his production & bad boy recs work... although the only reason he's on that list is cuz "i'll be missing you" hit #1

Some of it I agreed with some I didn't.

              Will Smith? Total bullshit.

              Doug E. Fresh...missed. No good.

If this list was based just on skills, this list is WHACK! However I assume they probably rated those artists by who had the greatest overall impact on hip hop and not by their skills alone.

I agree with many of their picks like Beastie #11, Jay #12, Public Enemy #2 and others but KRS #21?? Gangstarr #40????? Oh and why is Eve on that list? There are more on there that really dont make alot of sense like Will Smith #30? Some of y'all might hate but he should be way higher and at least top15. Nas #19?? MC Hammer #44? Again, he should be way up there.

And lastly, I dont agree with Em bein higher than cats like KRS, Dre, and even the Wu. He hasn't been around long enough and hasn't proven the test of time like those guys have but I can see him 5-10 yrs from now being up there. That's my werd. Peace!

Big L never had a chance to shine he never had a chance to go mainstream. I'm still watching this shit right now it is like #25 right now. I am suprised Nelly is 29. If they even gonna put him on the list put him at 50. Ja Rule hasn't done shit for Hip Hop except claiming he invented the RnB and Rap collab.

Looking at the list again, Nas and Em should be switching spots. But you can't blame VH1 because they ain't a Hip Hop station. As far as I know they don't even play Hip Hop videos, or even play videos at all.

Oh and Mils get the fuck outta here. You don't know shit, period.

how can you say something like that when they released their first commercial album in 1993 (not to mention there are songs on there from 1992)...this is way before eminem, and jay-z* (and certain other people on the list)...

*as far as albums are concerned...

hey copacabana, the people who put pac #1 in the BET show were his fellow rappers themselves. they had the biggest say in who was #1 so go tell all the rappers they don't know shit about hip-hop and being the best isn't all about skill.
