i got this from www.joebudden.com
New York, NY - After making a name for himself on mixtapes, Joe Budden experienced a lukewarm debut. In an interview with BET News, Def Jam spokesman Mark Richard discussed the unfortunate events that preceeded the album's release.
"Joe Budden is a talented Def Jam artist who didn't sell as much as anyone expected. We have discovered that Joe lost a significant amount of sales due to a marketing mistake on all sides." When asked to elaborate, Richard continued, "Joe began self-promoting himself years ago on mixtapes. The problem with this route is that mixtape DJs continually called him 'Joe Buddens,' and not Joe Budden."
While this may seem to be a minor discrepancy, Richard told BET News that it was a very serious issue. "Joe Budden essentially changed his name when he released his album. There are many fans of 'Joe Buddens' that did not know about the release of the debut. They figured it was an entirely different person, and decided not to buy the album."
Joe Budden's self-titled debut is expected to see an immediate increase in sales. His follow-up, "The Growth," will be released this summer with two different album covers - one with 'Joe Budden' and the other 'Joe Buddens.'
