Kimberly Jones, aka Lil' Kim has been charged with conspiracy to commit perjury, make false statements and obstruct justice; perjury before the grand jury; the making of false statements; and obstruction of justice, according to court documents. The charges stem from a shooting three years ago outside Hot 97 in New York which left Efrain Ocasio shot in the back. Lil' Kim allegedly lied to investigators.
The initial police report said Kim was not present when shots were fired on February 25, 2001, but two days later it was determined she was on the scene. When questioned by police the following day in her New Jersey home, she claimed to have no knowledge of what caused the bullets to fly and refused to tell police who had accompanied her to the radio station. Kim and her friend Monique Dopwell (a.k.a. Mo Betta) also allegedly lied when later questioned by a grand jury in connection with the investigation.
If convicted, Kim and Dopwell each face a maximum sentence of more than 30 years.
