The problem with The Massacre

Most people would say it's a step back from Get Rich or Die Tryin', and about 80% of the record is. The other 20% is actually a step forward, but most people don't notice it because overall it's a pretty weak album. For example "I'm Supposed to Die Tonight" takes his talent for writing hooks even farther, but most of the album he seems lazy even at what he's best at. Also the song "A Baltimore Love Thing" and the hook on "My Toy Soldier" show that he's capable of actually talking about important issues, but the rest of the album shows that he just doesn't see the point. His flow is not up to his standards, except on the track "Get in my Car." The album as a whole makes him seem like a waste of talent.

Sometimes I don't know if you're here just to go against the grain or for real, but that I can't argue with. Because at least a small portion of The Massacre shows growth as an artist. Encore shows absolutely none at all and ranges from uninspired to completely unlistenable.

I like that song too actually. I was knew I probably forgot one other song on the album where his flow got better instead of worse, and that was the one.

Excluding the singles, I liked the general sound of the album. Was really grimy and thick, if you get me. I'm just talking about the production, lol. I'm Supposed To Die Tonight, My Toy Soldier and Ski Mask Way were my favourite beats on the album, so I guess Em didn't too bad if 2 of them are done by him.

The CD gets shit on unfairly, although I do think it was a step backwards from its predecessor. Only songs I honestly think needed to be cut are Build You Up, This Is 50, and So Amazing. Oh, and probably Gatman and Robbin', too.

I like every song on that record. Step backwards? If you say so, but I'll be enjoying Outta Control, Ski Mask Way, and Gunz Come Out well into next year.

ya, this album takes alot of unnecisary hate. it is a very good album, i dont care what poeple think. I have said it before and now im saying it again very good album. you guys forgot about "position of power" good song

Best songs in my opinion that held this album up were:
In My Hood, I'm Supposed to Die Tonight, Ski Mask Way, the beat on Just a Lil Bit is crazy, Gunz Come Out, My Toy Soldier, Position of Power, I Don't Need Em.
For real this album gets shitted on way too much, for havin all those unheard of producers it wasn't half bad.

I just think the album as a whole sounds more grimier than Get Rich which to me was more of just a beginning-to-end clubbanger. I'm just talking choice of production-wise.. I have mixed feelings towards Massacre lyrically. Never imagined 50 to be the type to do Baltimore Love Thing, lol.
