The name Swifty McVay is cool, but after 9/11 I don't think it goes over too well. 9/11 showed that Swifty's persona is more real than D12 fans thought it was, and some people might take it the wrong way. But other than that, he has a huge chance of blowing up because of his unique delivery (he sounds like a cross between Snoop Dogg and Joe Pesci). Also his weird rhyme structures and lyrical mayhem make him the consumate Detroit rapper. He is not the best lyricist in D12, but as 50 Cent proves, unique flow and delivery are more important in blowing up than great lyrics (As a matter of fact, if 50 wanted to expand his label to the Midwest I think he should sign Swifty. As long as Swifty didn't change to flashy shit it would be cool. He once said in an interview "I'm not really into material things, I just like getting paid."). Also he would work because his rhymes are vicious but not really that graphic or disgusting. Kuniva is an excellent lyricist and Bizarre is a terrible one, but they both conjure up nasty images. Swifty has the sociopath attitude but with less of the excess (for example he's the only D12 member who never raps about rape). If he changed his solo name to Swifty something-else he could go platinum.

Swift likes to talk about arson and bombs in his rhymes (because they are common in Detroit, especially in the '80s when someone his age was growing up). So he named himself Swifty McVay after Timothy McVeigh. Which is crazy enough, but after an event that was 10 times worse than what McVeigh did I don't think it would go over too well naming himself after someone like that. Like I said it's the only thing holding back his career.

Also all these solo-carreers couldnt be too good for d12. If they get too entangled into their solo shit then they wont have time for the group anymore.. after eminem went huge, it took 4 years to make another d12 album.

I didn't say he should change what he raps about, I'm saying throwing the name Swifty McVay in people's faces is not a good idea. Other than that he wouldn't have to change shit to blow up, except maybe put out one song that limits the violence to breaking people's jaws.

As for solo careers hurting D12, I think the opposite is true. I listen to their albums and think these guys have talent as individuals and need the chance to shine. Especially Swifty, who has a star quality. He is lyrical like the New York MCs, rowdy like the Dirty South, gangsta like the West Coast but with a unique Detroit flavor and an unmistakeble delivery. But on an album with five other guys he doesn't get to shine like he should, none of them do.
