For this track, Eminem finds time to make fun of his band and even gets them to make fun of themselves, clearly aware of the fact that, even after a multi-platinum debut album, most music fans have no idea who they are by name (in contrast to Eminem being arguably the most popular MC of all time).
The beat is slick, the chorus is charming, the bridge (whose vintage vocal melody I assume is original) is great, the verses are on-point and the whole track just flows along with a comical, dare I say campy, vibe. It doesn't take itself too seriously (at least not on the surface) and that's ultimately why it works so well.
Wanna-be thugs and hip-hop "purists" will probably dismiss it as just another "commercial rap" track, but I say it's genuine hip-hop (conceptually intertwined with a little rock-and-roll, of course) in the form of a major rap star (Eminem) using musical satire to bring attention to his over-looked rap group (those other five guys).
My Rating = 4 (of 5)
