  • The eminem debate

All of us can agree that as of late, as in 3 years, material coming out of eminems mouth has been shit ( no pun intented ), but dont most people judge an artist by his studio albums? The albums that actually sell well and make money.. Now if you look at eminems career, isnt it safe to say hes had 1 flop with encore? SSLP MMLP Eminem show were all great albums, encore was thrash. 8 mile soundtrack was good, d12s first album where em was on most of the album was pretty good, and the mixtapes were great with all the diss tracks, exp reup but what he was only like 3 tracks on that total again. So isnt it safe to say em has only had 1 bad outting, so why is it that people say hes trash? U really cant judge someone on tracks that really arent even his, most guest spots are trash anyway because they dont want to put effort into something that isnt theres..

    Thoughts?

because it's what has he done recently? and that's nothing... now i agree that encore shouldn't define his career, but it gives us a better angle at what's to come... if eminem was psychic and knew that encore would do this much damage, he would probably have released another album in 2005, that proved he still has it.

When Eminem and I did "Stan" at the Grammys four years ago, we got together to rehearse out in the Valley. We had never met or really spoken, so I was a little intimidated. When we started to do the song and Eminem made his entrance, I got goose bumps the likes of which I have not felt since I first saw Jimi Hendrix, Mick Jagger, James Brown and Aretha Franklin. Eminem was that good. I just thought, "Fuck, this man is amazing." There are very few performers who can grab you like that the first time -- only the greats.
Eminem is a true poet of his time, someone we'll be talking about for decades to come. He tells stories in such a powerful and distinctive way. As a lyricist, he's one of the best ever. Eminem does for his audience what Dylan did for his: He writes how he feels. His anger, vulnerability and humor come out. That's why we look forward to listening to Eminem's lyrics and finding out where the hell he's headed next.

Eminem lives, sleeps and breathes music -- he's a bit like me in that respect. He's pretty much of a recluse. I think he's enthralled with what he's doing; he's intimately involved with his art. There's a mystique about him -- you don't know much about him. That's so unusual in today's marketplace, where we know everything about every fucking person.

From the start, I've always admired Eminem's thinking. That's the reason I wanted to appear on the Grammys with him when I was asked, despite all the nonsense talked about his being homophobic and crap like that. Let the Boy Georges and the George Michaels of the world get up in a twist about it if they don't have the intelligence to see his intelligence.

Eminem has the balls to say what he feels and to make offensive things funny. That's very necessary today in America, with people being muzzled and irony becoming a lost art. Artists like Eminem who use their free speech to get a point across are vitally important. There just aren't many people in the world with balls that big and talent that awesome.

Not sure what the question is here but I don't even call Encore a flop, it was successful and it sold and people know songs from it, etc. It just wasn't a very good album so I guess you can call it a flop in terms of quality, but whatever I'm more concerned with what the deal was, he goes from being basically flawless to shit just getting worse and worse, did he do it or purpose, does he not care anymore, does it have to do with the label/higher ups, cuz it's hard for me to think he just lost all that talent all the sudden, maybe its a personal deal, he wants to focus on family and his life and is tired of the scene, etc. It just baffles me and there is no explanation for it and its all mysterious and shit. It's like he knows tho, I mean a mother fucker knows that he is farting and shitting on a record, he knows "you look i sound like singing about weenies". Its just fucking weird, he obviously can do whatever he wants, if he wants to be with his family and never make music again thats his choice and I wish him all the best.......but what happened to his music and why is what I really wanna know.
