  • THE REALNESS of Mr Nasir Jones......?

look, i love Nas' music. i mean his message, concepts, lyrical mite, innovation, creativity...everything...

but man how REAL is Nas?

its clear out of all the mainstream rappers, currently he's putting out the most politically-motivated/black-awareness music....but how PRO ACTIVE is Nas when he steps out the mic booth...

i think people who really dissect Nas' music can criticize him because his music doesnt go parallel with his character....

i mean honestly, i dont think anybody knows Nas' personal life and how much of his success he recycles back into the community. so i cant legitimately call him a hypocrite. but as much talk as he does about how we all have slave minds and going back to Africa, and shit like that. he should be KNOWN for doing somethin!!!

so if music is his job, its cool i guess. cuz i slip into a certain mode when im work and totally change when im off. but for hip hop, man i think what you talk about you gotta apply to who you really are...

hip hop fans expect too much out of rappers, if you enjoy the music then what's the problem?

for example: Necro talks about killing and dead bodies and shit, but i don't think anyway really thinks he kills people and fucks them lmao

yea i mean know its a stretch to say that Nas should 'live his lyrics' literally...but he's not talkin about somethin extreme like killing and dead bodies and shit....

            he's talkin about....

"Registered voter not blood of a panther
Why is the question what is the answer
Got a suggestion, here's an example
Won't we build our own airline, states, and highways
Fly to Africa, do some trades with Zimbabwe
Why did Malcolm's mission die with the man
Why we ain't pick it up where he left it and carry out his plan
Why the merger try to exclude L.A. Reid
He brought you Usher, Outkast top-selling CD's
Why do half America got AIDS
Why do schools care about your son's braids more than they care for his grades
Why they hate our white t-shirts and hats turned backwards
And why is Jesus Christ never played by black actors
And why there ain't a MC that can touch me nor budge me
And why is Nas the best thing in rap since Chuck D
And why this record ain't sell 5 mill yet
Jada's as real as it get
Put my money where my mouth is
            And do something bout this

uh, so when does Nas plan on
building our own airline, states, and highways, flying to Africa, do some trades with Zimbabwe

i mean like i said, i love Nas's message but he's talkin about some stuff that with his status he really has the ability to do...

Do you expect the news paper/news to print/tell every little thing famous people do? Nas probablly does good things, but how many times do you hear about someone doing something good on the news? Its all about "a man killed 903758923758794508956430956 people" and bullshit like that.

i agree, i dont think any of us will ever know the extent of what Nas does...but he talks big game, and you never hear about him doing somethin....i mean there are hip hop websites out there that report news...but is it not true what Jay Z said:

"Can't y'all, see that he's fake, the rap version of TD jakes
Prophesizing on your CDs and tapes
Won't break you a crumb of the little bit that he makes
And this is with whom you want to place your faith?
I put dollars on mine, ask Columbine
When the Twin Towers dropped, I was the first in line
Donating proceeds off every ticket sold
When I was out on the road, that's how you judge Hov, no?
Ain't I supposed to be absorbed myself?
Every time there's a tragedy, I'm the first one to help
They call me this misogynist, but they don't call me the dude
To take his dollars to give gifts at the projects
These dudes is all politics, depositing checks
they put in they pocket, all you get in return is a lot of lip
And y'all buy the shit, caught up in the hype
Cause the ***** wear a coofie, it don't mean that he bright
Cause you don't understand him, it don't mean that he nice
It just means you don't understand all the bullshit that he write"

Word brother! this is so true...

Nas is just doing his job, he may feel this way and maybe he should do something, however he is doing what he is supposed to do, and he is doing it well. Maybe he should be he doesn't, we can't think that he has to do it cuz he talks about it, he is a musician voicing his opinion and is trying to get others to do something about the issues, I am not saying he is wrong for rapping about it and not doing it but I am not saying he shouldn't do it... he should do what he wants. I enjoy his music but I won't give him a hard time for this.

                            here's a quote from 2pac:

yea, I guess with saying Nas rapping about this stuff...it's bound to inspire somebody out there to make a difference
