What takes more talent, Rapping or Producing?

what do you think takes more talent to become SUCESSFUL at, rapping or producing? and when i say sucessful it doesnt have to mean platinum selling, i consider people like stoupe and sage francis to be sucessful at what they do. please give reasons to justify your answers.

both takes a lot of skill to become successful at it, i'd say a person like kayne west has to have alot of skill, when they have to both rap & produce

rappin is hard to be successul as well, you want to be popular for you know you have fans waiting for your music but producing is tough as well, to make good beats and not dissapoint the rappers you make them for, but not very many fans that arent real hip hop fans never heard your name, like juzt blaze, timbaland, swizz beats etc. i know im probably the only one in my school thats heard of them

both hard, in my opinion music is complex, mastering equipment, having an ear for samples if you do it that way, creating your own melodies if you do it that way, piecing together strands of your own ideas into a full blown composition, production is harder...

FUCK I read the title of the thread and answered the question... not reading the poll question and after I hit it and it was loading I read that it was "SUCCESSFUL"... I voted for rapping however that is before I saw that it was for sucess... I think that Producing does... however remember a lot of mainstream popular producers and rappers don't have a lot of talent (i.e. Lil Jon and Chingy)

i say producing, many of the best producers dont get nearly enough credit. same with rap but a producer needs the money for equipment to practise, a rapper can practise without any equiptment or money, so the more irony to a producer who doesnt make it big.

it's hard to say,but i'd say producin to become successful coz although it hard to rap,if your good at it you can jst get other producers to make your beat,where a producer has to start from nothin,if that makes sense?? well i know what i mean! lol
