  • The UK hasnt forgot how to make classic records... like the U.S

Now I know you guys in the U.S are totally fuckin' ignorant when it comes to the UK scene and UK hip hop, Grime etc...

How many classic albums does the U.S cough up now adays. There are some but it's rare. Artists forget.... they just make those commercial/party/spit-for-chicks records that sell albums. I aint sayin there arent exceptions, but for the most part that is the state of the scene over there.

In the UK... there are records that are true to hip hop, proper records. For example The Sagas Of Klashnekoff. I'd even say the slightly more commerical Kano album is a classic urban music record IMO. and there are more i'm just sightin examples.

But the album that inspired me to make this thread is 'Analyse This' by Taz.
It's the guys debut and he's on Def Jam UK. Shit is fire...

He has the party, radio single 'cowboy film' but the album is about making a proper hip hop record.

These guys know they arent going to get platinum sales... they go into the project trying to make the best record possible... not thinking about making it sell as much as it can.

For the U.S heads with an open mind that want to listen to a classic record again and move away from this 50 Cent material that is flooding the game... I strongly urge you to give a listen to the albums i've mentioned, but especially Taz.

UK can back me up on this.

ye uk hip hop is so grimey and real. its all underground and its easier to relate to. i bought the mitchell brothers album yesterday and played it bout 12 times. now uk rap has got a sense of humour its deff gonna take off

UK hip hop is less accessible than underground hip hop.

Not too many people are going to check out something they've never heard and that's hard to get.

right... but the Taz album is more accesable as it's released under Def Jam.

Plus people can request it, give it a chance.

That Taz album is old though. Still a classic I was just listening to it earlier, kinda reminds me of a young Hov.

yea... I think he like models his style a bit on Jay-Z... he mentions him quite a few times on the record.

Yea it's a couple years old but i'm jst tryin to give them the tightest example to get in to, IMO
