These reflections are quite relative, because 100% no one knows for sure. This, dude, is like weeks in a year, so you know how many weeks a year, so on a flip say probably 48, and where do you put the rest of the days, there are guys arguing on the forum even about this, and you say such global things here

How Dick Cheney Saved The Environment

ďAbout 14 percent of U.S. oil refining capacity by Wednesday night was shut as a precaution before Hurricane Rita strikes land and in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. This practically ensures a rise in the price of a gallon of gasoline already pushed near record highs after Katrina knocked out refineries in Louisiana and Mississippi.Ē Ė Reuters 9/21/05

As we continue using more gasoline to power our vehicles, the global warming we create continues to form more hurricanes and other weather problems that raise the cost of that gasoline. It is a beautiful cycle for the oil companies. For those that donít know, whenever the cost of oil goes up the companies involved in the production and distribution of that oil increase their profits. You might assume that higher pump prices were just their way of recouping the higher costs that they are facing, but this is not so; they are actually increasing their net income. You can verify this by looking at the stock charts of any company in the oil industry. ( For example, the name mentioned in the Reuters article quoted above: Valero Energy ) The restrictions put on supplies empower them to raise prices beyond the incremental cost to them.

Environmentalists accuse the Republicans of not caring for the environment, but this is naÔve. Even the rich, Republican elite have children, and grand-children, and they want their children to have clean air to breathe, and to live long lives. They care about the survival of the human race just as much as the Democrats do. The Republicans just have a different solution. They are business-oriented, and the industry regulations advocated by the Democrats are viewed as an inefficient solution from a business perspective. Industry regulations raise costs for businesses without raising revenues. A better way to control energy use is through price hikes. By raising prices they can reduce the amount of gasoline that Americans use while still maintaining profits. This solution also protects the lifestyles of the rich. An incremental dollar on a gallon of gas doesnít affect the driving habits or lifestyles of the rich, but the poor will be forced to cut back on their usage rates. By raising prices the upper class can protect the environment while putting all of the burden on the lower class. All of this is in line with the capitalistic attitude of our country and our faith in the invisible hand and market forces to automatically correct any problems that arise in the process of doing business. From the Republican point of view everything that is happening is completely natural. Too much gasoline demand caused global warming, which caused supply restrictions, which increased prices, which in turn then reduces demand. The problem is self-correcting as it proceeds through this cycle. Never mind that it amounts to class warfare and that thousands of people are now dead from hurricanes the likes of which no one had imagined.

So the next time you want to drive somewhere, but decide not to because you know itís going to cost you, thank Dick Cheney and the oil industry for caring so much about the environment.
