  • Jay-Z - Def Jam!! (I got a question)

Every single rapper is basically singed to Hov's Def Jam. Jay-Z being the President, means that he owns every single muthafucker in the rap game (no disrespect). He own's everybody!! All The Legends are under him, Nas too. What are your takes on this? What do you think about this? I was just thinking about this because when you someone comes out with a CD and it's under Def Jam. Jay basically is the boss and owns them.

Nas & Budden are the only ppl on Def Jam that Jay doesn't deserve to own.....

Pretty soon Def Jam will buy interscope, and all the others and then become a monopoly and then the govt will disban def jam for violating my rights as a consumer.

      /sarcasm

But seriously, for a while it seemed like everyone was either signing to G-Unit (meh interscope) or Def Jam....it sucks that those are the two major labels now in the industry.

What about Redman he's better as jay-Z.

But about all these rappers signing to the same labels, I think it's fucked up. Cause they wait with dropping albums on other albums. Thats why less big rappers (like redman on def jam and obie on interscope) got to wait years to drop an album.

def jam artist can't come out with a single unless it's some party shit or luv song, that asspect of that label sucks

def jam got a lot of legends and vets like LL, Redman, Nas, Methodman,, Ghostface

def jam ain't sh!t but a mainstream label aside from all the vets it owns, I see DMX left because he didn't wanna be controlled and money issues, I guess Jay's a good pres but he hasn't released any artist with creativity, ne-yo, rhiana & jeezy ain't nothing special

Def Jam was the sh!t when Jay had the hard knock life tour going on every artist around that time was droping heat of def jam. Jay is still a ill rapper but def jam is just another label that controlls a artistes creativity.

the thing is though Nas isnt all together signed with Def Jam as his album sales are going to be split between Sony & Def Jam, so Jay isnt going to be ruling all together.

LL can be great but I don't think he was ever on the level of Nas, Redman and Jay-Z. And I think at the moment Joe Budden, Ghostface and Method Man(only speaking about def jam artists) are also better as LL. But cool J is around for so long and one of the first succesfull rap artist in the pop culture that he should be counted as a rap legend I think.
