The beats sound dope but do they make Hip Hop look bad? Alot of people tell me they don't recognize Hip Hop as a talented genre because producers just steal music and put drums to them. What do you think?

Rap probably wouldn't exist as a genre if not for sampling...sampling is an integral part of rap...i could care less how certain people feel about rap; what matters is am i enjoying what i'm listening to? just cause Professor Turandot thinks otherwise, it doesn't really bother me...
stealing music? the big names shell out a lot of money to be sampled...a lot of that shit is paid for, although lesser known artists might get away with it or the occasional commercial artist might fuck up...but other than that, i hardly think that paying the artist and his or her company a lot of money, constitutes stealing...if they really have an issue with sampling then i question their ability to really enjoy rap...any person that enjoys and considers himself knowledgable on rap should know that the foundation is rooted in sampling...

Sampling As Tone Riggz Rightly Explained Is A Fundamental Element Of Hip Hop Music.
"Alot of people tell me they don't recognize Hip Hop as a talented genre because producers just steal music and put drums to them"
That Is Both Right And Wrong. Look At Classics Like "Straight Outta Compton", EPMD's "Out Of Business", Mobb Deep's "The Infamous", MOP's "To The Death". To Produce A Great Beat Out Of Samples Does Require Talent, And I Completely Appreciate This As I'm A Producer Myself, However It's Also Completely True That Shitty, Modern, Commercial Producers Do In Fact Just "Steal Music And Put Drums To Them". *Coughs* Kanye West
And Also, Recognize That Sampling As A Method Of Creating Music Is By No Means Limited To Hip Hop. Drum&Bass And Electronica Are Sample-Heavy (Check Out The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, Aphex Twin) Even Rock And Metal Bands Sample From Time To Time. The Gorillaz Show Some Quite Interesting Sample Use - Playing Live Instruments Along To Samples Etc.Last edited by MC-Curlz; 02-06-2007, 10:59 AM.Originally posted by BluToothOriginally posted by ca$hville_69^i dont know wut kinda burgers ppl eat where u live, but i've never heard of burgers with bones and intestines.

It depends on the extent of sampling. I enjoy Kanye West's integration of known songs into his own raps, but they do make rap seem very uncreative to outsiders of the hip hop genre.
For sampling that's not as obvious, such as NWA, then the effect is great. It doesn't seem like they're just copying known tunes."If hip hop is dead then where the autopsy at?"

You see, you misunderstood
A sample is a tactic
A portion of my method, a tool
In fact it's only of importance when I make it a priority
And what we sample of, is the majority
But you are a minority, in terms of thought
Narrow minded and poorly taught
About hip-hop, playin' all the silly games
You erase my music, so no one can use it

yea who gives a shit, heaps of these ignorant metal and rock heads bitch about hip hop not playing instruments and shit like that all the time. hip hop never played instruments from the start, and if thats "untalented" than would hip hop gain so much followers and supporters?
we dont need instruments or prove shit anything else to ignorant outsiders

well unfortunately many are, but then again i know there are some of them arent like that and are open minded about it and gives hip hop a chance. some are ignorant and some arent, just like the people in this world: there's good people and bad people. im mainly refering to one side, and not stereotyping them just because of what some of them have to say
i respect them if they dont feel hip hop because of a taste or something, but if they like disrespect us or something that makes me look at them a different way
