Wu fell off?

ive just read some articles that wu-tang kinda fell off after 36 chambers, is that true or is it just they evolved a bit?

In my opinion they evolved individually, so as a group they would never sound as good together as they did on 36 Chambers, so I don't think they fell off.

Wu-Tang Forever was a good second album...probably could've been better with a few less of the tracks on it, but it was a solid release...i wasn't crazy about The W, and even though Iron Flag got mixed reviews, i liked that album...

as for individually, the artists have gotten stronger...in some cases they may've fallen off a bit but then rose back up(Raekwon & Method Man for example)...Ghostface Killah imo is definitely the most consistent Wu member and possibly the most consistent rapper...

^GZa is probably the most consistent imo, and RZA's production evolved but didn't really fall off, so their whole sound was different afterwards, and they all really pursued their own stuff, so they weren't so good as a crew.

As a group they fell off. Individually I think GFK, Method Man, Raekwon, GZA, & RZA are still hot. Can't say much about ODB (R.I.P.). I never really liked Inspectah Deck or Masta Killa so I have no opinion. I think U-God is just terrible. Cappadonna's alright, haven't listened to his solo shit. I'm still looking forward to the new album though. I just hope it's better than Iron Flag. I think they've gotten worse after each group album so hopefully that will change.

I have to say that I don't feel some of the Wu joints that come out nowadays.

But yes, as individual artists, the Wu Tang clan is still strong.


I'm looking forward for the new Wu album, and then we'll see if the wu has fallen off.

The problem with creating such a classic debut, is that you can never come back and top it. That was the problem with Enter The Wu. It was such an amazing album, that no matter what, it always had that title to live up to. So to a point, every album they released after that couldn't compare to it's cousin.

I agree with Tone. Iron Flag got a lot of bad press, and I think that half of this was people on the bandwagon, simply saying it was bad because it was Wu and because of how groundbreaking ETW was.

kinda like Mobb Deep with The Infamous they cant really top 36 chambers
but i think Method Man and GZA have the best solo albums with Tical and Liquid Swords and one of my favorite albums Blackout- with Meth and Redman
