Lyrically, this is by far the best album I've ever heard.
The man displays true rhyme genius, with an album full of clever verses, virtually all of which are flawless in quality.
For me, it changed the whole game, raising the level of lyric excellence to a place it's never been before.
2Pac, B.I.G., Jay Z, all the rappers considered to be the greatest are all mediocre in comparison.
"Guilty Conscious" (with Dr. Dre) shows he's just as good in the ghost-writing field, making Dre sound like the MC he never was, while "Bad Meets Evil" (with Royce 5-9) is one of the best hip-hop duets you've ever heard, with both MCs spitting word-perfect bars back to back like there's no tomorrow.
"Bonnie & Clyde" is a sick ride of bizarre imagination (a love song to his daughter about killing her mother) & "Rock Bottom" is a lament testiment about being broke.
All tracks do their job with the use of the right words in the right places, almost as if Eminem has the mind of a brilliant computer.
His "Big Bird voice" and "twisted white trash personality" alone are enough to make this album interesting, not to mention top-notch beats by Dre. Dre & FBT, but it's the lyrical flow & creativity that's astonishing.
My Rating: 5 (of 5)
