  • Best Performance By A Rapper On A Album...

If you could choose 1 rapper who had the best performance on a album, who would it be.

Different aspects of MC'ing should be taken in to account, like subject matter, creativity, lyrics, flow, delivery, charisma & diversity etc.

For me it's Pharoahe Monch on 'Stress: Extinction Agenda', he showed all of those MC aspects mentioned above on a high level with diverse flow on nearly every song which has yet to be done IMO.

I'm going to say Eminem's MMLP was diverse (Stan vs. The Way I Am vs. Under the Influence) while still feeling cohesive and put together as an album rather than a bunch of random tracks. He touched on various subjects, and he had 3 or 4 different styles of flow throughout the album's 15 tracks.

My opinion may be slightly biased considering this is one of the albums that really got me in to rap/hiphop, but it immediately comes to mind as one of the premier rap albums in the history of hiphop.

My vote for best performance by a rapper on an album goes to Eminem on MMLP.

For me its either Nas on Illmatic or Rakim on Paid in Full, but if i really had to chose, i would say Nas. Nas's flow on Illmatic was tight. It was not diverse on every song, but it didnt have to be because his flow matched the beats he used and his lyrics perfectly. Lyrically the album is untouchable, no body, not even Nas, has ever came close to spitting lyrics that were as poetic and deep as he did on Illmatic.

I KNEW what prompted this thread as soon as I saw the title and poster lol. Honestly, I don't give a fuck how cliche it is, but probably Nas on Illmatic.

I think Stillmatic was a really complete and well-rounded album.

Neo is right. In my opinion, Hip Hop Is Dead, The Lost Tapes and God's Son are all better than Stillmatic.

To D Block provider, yes i have heard It Was Written, its actually one of my favorite albums, and lyrically Nas is crazy on it, but it still doesnt come close to Illmatic. The thing is Illmatics lyrics have sooo much depth in it, thats what makes it so great. To 2 people that bad repped me, one saying Lupe, i agree that Lupe is very dope, but neither the Cool or Food and Liqour come close to Illmatic, and to the guy asking me if im 40, the answer is no, i turn 21 next month.
