  • Hip hop is dieing

in my opinion i think hip hop has changed too much. I mean back in the days when pac, fugees, wu tung(back then), public enemy, ice t, dre, eminem(back then), cypress hill, klan etc etc. You had these rappers who ahd these politcial and social agendas. Theyd be rapping about humanity, poverty, current affairs, morality, violence, dureucracy, corruption and everything else related to at least some form of human civilisation.

But nowadays everybody seems to have become these selfish bastards. everytime i see a new rap video on tv, there either rapping about how much money they have in there car boots (cash money), how they pimp out with their cadillacs, silver hoods and the ma-agic stick (snoop, 50), or how many times theyve been shot, "i got shot nine times"(50 again), or how retarded they can get(ludacris), how many bitches they got in the basement etc etc. Its always about themselves.

Thats not the only thing. due to mainstream popularity most rappers who've been around for at least 8 or more years have changed considerably. I mean look at outkast now. back in the old days i wasnt a big fan of them, but they layed out some nice tracks. and now big boi and andre are doing seperate songs. and what the fuck was andre doing that poppy song "hey ya". i mean whats wrong with these people, fucking boy bands are obsessed with girls, not rappers.
Then theres cypress hill, i used to love all their tracks. They had this dark, gothic feel. but the other day i see there newest video on tv "whats your number" and im thinking, who the fuck messed with their brain. its fucking ridiculous cos that video looks like some fucking B2K shit.

But anyway im going to stop bitching right now, i just hope dre's detox is still like chronic( in my opinion, thats the most perfect album ever made).

I believe the proper truth is, theres no more rap in stores and the tv...its all underground being sold at the back of car trunks and the internet.

You get to miss the old dayz , when most rappers had message to put out, besides ho´s , money, and the Maybach Benz they are ridin in.
I don't think that hip hop i actually dying , i fact it's more popular then ever.

There are still some real cats out there, like Nas -Royce da 5'9 ect.

yeah i agree too. i wasn't into hip hop back in the days much cos well i was too young really and hadn't gotten into it, but nowadays i generally prefer listening to 2pac and biggie than 50 and the rest of the gangsta rap.

Again, I Agree. Most Of What I'm Bumpin' Now Is Oldskool Shit (Mobb Deep, Wu Tang, Pac, Big L, etc etc). Yeah There Are Still Some Dope Peeps, Nas And Royce Especially Come To Mind. Em Needs To Go Back To How He Was On Infinite.

I Heard That Production Was Stopped On Detox Tho. Any Thruth To This? Holla.

Its not dying. Its just that its polluted. I really cant say much on rap from the 93-94 era because i was like 4 but I still listened to Wu Tang, Mobb Deep, Cypress Hill and all that because thats what my brothers were listening to. I still listen to that now but yeah, the commercial aspect of hip hop is what is making everything how it is. Thats why I dont listen to much of commercial rap. A few years ago all i was listening to was Em and Nas Because all the other junk on the radio was garbage. Nelly, Ludacris, or whoever was really big in that time frame and I was stuck basically listening to these two artists because they were the only things I found interesting. After a while I had found underground rap and I found it more listenable than what was being put out on the radio. Well, i guess the fact of hip hop dying goes back to comparing commercial to underground for me but what can I say. Its just going down the more marketable path. IMO.

^^i agree 100% with ide. and hip hop isnt dying at all, you just have to look harder for decent hip hop, as opposed to the 93-94 era where a lot of classics were being released.

                          you are fuckin rite

u say exactly how i feel. hip hpo is really dying, but i'm wandering what kids will learn from nowadays hiphop, shit, they are singin r&b, claiming it's hiphop, look at Ja, always talkin about love love. What is love: Shit or Hell? Maybe emi would make things better cuz he talks about pain and suffering which are the characteristics of hiphop. To Ja, stop destroying hiphop, to fifty, yes u'r a real G, but stop talking about your fancy things, talk abut your freaky life man, to B2K, what the hell on earth are u doing? Yes u are handsome but, u have to stop sayin u sing hiphop.

I agree with most of y´all about the old and new dayz.
I almost only listen to Nas, Eminem, Royce, Tupac, Dirty Dozen,a little bit Obie Trice and King Gordy sometimes, Canibus, Ras Kass, Killah Priest, Kurupt.

Can´t stand 50, Snoop, Ludacris, Chingy, Outkast, Lil Jon etc. (nelly isn´t a real rapper that´s why i don´t put him on my list....hmmm...i should take lil jon also out of it, ´cuz he isnt a rapper too....bitchez)
