This was the last show of the A Healthy Distrust Tour, and let me begin by saying wow. There aren't enough words in the English dictionary to describe the energy at this show. The opening acts were Corrina Bain and Jared Paul, both of whom were excellent. However Paul had a terrific energy about him as he whirled through spoken word political poetry. He also performed "Jesus in a Bowl of Germs". Then out came Sol.illaquists of Sound. Let's just say that if they ever become noticed by mainstream America, they have the potential to blow up bigger than the Roots. Their lead rapper, Swamburger, is kind of a blend of various MCs and raps rather fast, to the point where he nearly became indecipherable. DiViNCi, who worked the MPCs, is amazing. He has unmatched energy and even played them with his feet and face. He was definitely a crowd favorite as anytime he went into a solo on the MPCs the crowd went absolutely nuts. Sage then came out and delivered a ridiculous performance ranging from Personal Journals, Hope, and AHD. All were amazing and energetic, fully enveloping the crowd. He is a true MC, and even broke out a freestyle over "99 Problems" dissing Jay-Z, then gave major props to Dead Prez. His overall performance must be seen in person to capture the essence of what I saw. The crowd sang nearly every word along with him, it was amazing.
I suggest picking up some stuff from Sol.illaquists of Sound of their website, they truly are what music is meant to be about.
