best Bar Music-rock

Ok so i work for a production company djing dances, private parties, weddings, proms, and stuff and im in charge of making the mix cds, and supply the music along with djing also. now we just got our first few bar gigs at and irish pub, at the dances we use mostly pop music and rap, now i dont really listen to rock, except for some classic rock here and there. so can someone hook me up with a site that lists good music i should use, the owner said he wants rock and roll and stuff, or just all around good music to use. thanks alot, ill spread the reps too

Don't know of any sites but can give advice.

Can't go wrong with SOAD, I always say.
Can't go wrong with Metallica, I always say. Older the better.
Some 90's alternative, like STP, Nirvana, Soundgarden and the like.

No glam rock/hair bands/emo. None of that. Keep it kinda upbeat. If you choose stuff from the 80's, make damn sure they're real good songs.

I dunno man, there's lots of options. What rock songs do you wanna hear when drinking?

Hm, depends on what kind of rock and if its a young/old audience.. theres so many different types. Go with the more recent stuff and throw in a couple classics along the way, like Bon Jovi or something. If its primarily an older audience throw more classic rock in.

Just check out the rock billboards for the most popular stuff. Hottest stuff at the moment is probably The Killers (When You Were Young), Red Hot Chili Peppers (Snow), Incubus (Anna Molly), Muse (Supermassive Blackhole).

You can't go wrong with Journey or Bon Jovi, but as perryC said there are way too many different types of Rock to tell you exactly what to play at what bar. Some rock would be the equivalent of busting out Louis Logic at a Club.

What type of music you play determines the clientele of a bar. Around here, bars only play rock. Clubs only play hip hop, usually with one night out of the week for techno. Most people at the bar are white, and most people at the club are some type of minority. I'm not being racist btw, that's how it is. IMO hip hop doesn't make sense in a bar, and rock doesn't make sense in clubs.

if you want some irish, punk, drinking music, try listening to some Dropkick Murphys. they rule.
